The easy way to healthy living is following a balance not only in your life but also in the food we eat and all this can be done by following a balanced diet plan.

If you seriously want to follow a balanced diet plan the first thing to do is consult your family doctor as he is the best person who can guide you in a professional way to plan a weight loss program that will work best for you .

The basic principle behind the balanced diet plan is to follow the food pyramid. There sure is no concrete balanced diet for everyone as we all are different from each other in all respects and so are our basic requirements and a weight loss program should be based on individual requirements.

A Well Balanced diet which includes all the healthy nutrients like:

Proteins, Fats Carbohydrates, Water and minerals are important for your heath. Most people think that a balanced diet only concentrates on body weight but a person who is thin and consuming fatty foods is at a risk of high blood pressure and cholesterol level which can lead to heart complications.

Most people fail to realize the importance of following a well balanced diet plan as this really means eating the right type of food in the right quantity. Whole grain breads and brown rice are complex carbohydrates and are also rich in fiber and the different colored fruits and vegetable are extremely beneficial for you. People who want to increase their muscles should increase also their daily protein consumption as protein is body building materials. Your best protein source is lean meat and dairy products. The best diet plan is the one that maintains a balance of the right ingredient for healthy living after all it’s a balanced diet that matters.

So the right combination of complex carbohydrates, vegetables, fruits and vegetables is the perfect balanced diet plan.

Gestational diabetes is becoming increasingly common, so if you or someone you know has been diagnosed with gestational diabetes – you’re not alone! Gestational diabetes is a condition characterised by high blood glucose levels during pregnancy. This diagnosis means that now is the time for you to take action and make some changes to your diet. Here we provide some sample diets for gestational diabetes, as well as gestational diabetes recipes. These sample diets and recipes include low glycemic index (GI) carbohydrates, without skimping on the vital nutrients required for the growing baby.

The sample diets for gestational diabetes provided below, should serve as just a starting point. You may find that you have greater success with gestational diabetes diets that are more structured or with tailor-made recipes. Always make sure that you consult closely with your health care professional before starting a new diet.

Although some weight loss plans offer diabetes diets, such as Medifast’s Diabetes Program, this is designed only for people with type II diabetes. The Medifast Diabetes Program is not recommended for managing gestational diabetes.

A Sample diet for Gestational Diabetes

A healthy diet for gestational diabetes is one that includes low GI carbohydrates, such as wholegrains, fruits, vegetables, pasta or low fat dairy products.

Low Carb diet Plan

The low carbohydrate diet is for those who can’t afford to go onto an expensive weight loss program start losing weight but want the same results. I will start the series with a brief over view of what is involved with the diet and then follow it up with a 14 day diet plan so you won’t get sick of eating the same thing, day in, day out. With this knowledge you will also be able to pick out your own foods straight off the supermarket shelf for an almost unlimited amount of dinners and lunches.

One of the buzz topics of the last ten years has been the emergence of the popular low carbohydrate diets. These diets work by restricting the amount of carbohydrates that you consume by replacing them with high protein and high fat alternatives. The diet uses a lot of meat and soy products as well as heaps of green leafy veggies that are low in the ‘evil’ carbs. Only about 20 – 60g of carbs are actually consumed in an average persons food consumption on one of these weight loss programs.

You don’t need to pay for an expensive course, you can have your very own free low carb diet plan by being a little vigilant when at the supermarket. Looks for recipes that avoid breads and flours such as noodles. The vegetables that should be dominant include sprouts, lettuces, spinach, bok-choy, celery, radish, cabbage, mushrooms, avocado and cucumber. You want to avoid potato, beets, carrots, corn, parsnips, and squash.

Berries are a fruit that are great for a low carb diet and so is lemon and lime juice. Don’t restrict your fruit intake too much and if you do make sure you take a good multivitamin to help replenish the nutrients.

General Rules to Follow

Focus on meat and vegetables

Eat no more than 2 slices of bread per day.

Eat 1 to 2 serves of fruit per day

Once you are in a routine you can start to add in more low GI carbohydrates to your diet plan. (After the 14 days is up).

Breakfasts

2 eggs

Small serve of cold meats such as ham

2 slices of cheese

1 vegetable (tomatoes, mushrooms, herbs)

Mix it up with:

Grapefruit or juice,a piece of fruit or the occasional pancakes (2) or slices of toast (2).

Lunches

Lunch 1:

A serve of sardines, tuna, boiled egg, cold cuts, salami, chicken, kebabs, hard boiled eggs)

2 oz cheese (yellow, feta, cottage).

Salad

Salad Ingredients:

Lettuce

Tomato

Cucumber (or celery, green peppers, radish, onion)

French Dressing

Lunch Option 2

Sandwich, pocket, pita, tortilla, wrap filled with salami, ham, cheese, chicken, egg etc plus salad with mayonnaise or pesto.

Dinners

A serve of fish, mince, steak, pork chops, lamb chops, chicken, seafood, beef, pot roast.

Serve with green leafy vegetables or a salad.

Optional Additions: 2 pancakes (cheese, plain) or 2 pieces bread

Dessert

Single serve of fresh or baked fruit with cream, vanilla ice cream, mousse, yogurt.

The Slim Fast diet plan is an alternative to the Medifast weight loss program that uses various meal replacements usually in the form of shakes to help control the calorie intake of your meals. By remaining in control of the energy, fat, protein, and carbohydrates that you intake there is less of a chance of failing the diet.

Just like Medifast, the best plan of attack for weight loss success involves having two different meal replacements complimented with Slim Fast snacks. You have one real meal per day. This real meal is the perfect opportunity to put what you have learnt about nutrition and healthy eating into practice. If you do get it wrong the consequences will be minimal as you will have had the proper nutritional intake from the previous meal replacements you had throughout the day.

This one off meal really is the secret to successfully losing weight and keeping it off. You can’t keep eating Slim Fast or Medifast products for the rest of your life so you must start learning how to eat properly with this real meal. Have a look around the site and you will find various diet plan menus and recipes that can help assist in learning how to eat properly. It really isn’t difficult though.

Managing diabetes can seem like a careful balancing act as you try to maintain a consistent blood glucose level. Often our focus is on reducing calories in a bid to lose as much weight as possible, but how many calories can you safely skip when you have diabetes? For some diabetics, low blood sugar levels can be just as dangerous as high blood sugar levels, so not eating enough calories can lead to serious problems. Here we take a look at the dietplan.com/diabetic-diet-plan/is-a-1200-calorie-diabetic-diet-right-for-you/”>1200 calorie diabetic diet and how to determine if it is right for you.

Know Your Calorie Needs

Everyone has different daily calorie needs based on a number of factors, so a diabetic diet plan that works for some people, might not work for everyone. Factors such as your height, weight, gender and how much physical activity you do, all affect how much daily energy your body needs to properly function. On average, people tend to eat about 2000 calories a day, which makes a 1200 calorie diabetic diet sound quite limiting. To work out if a 1200 calorie diabetic diet suits you, the first step is to find out how many calories you as an individual need each day. A dietitian or health practitioner can help you work out what your particular needs are.

Once you know how many calories you need to maintain your current weight, you’re half way to solving the weight loss equation! The basic formula for successful weight loss is to burn more energy then you consume. This means either increasing how much energy you use via exercise, or decreasing how much energy you consume in the form of calories, but usually a combination is recommended.

Unbalance the Calorie Scales

Whereas controlling your blood glucose levels is a balancing act, weight loss is an unbalancing act! You need to unbalance the amount of calories you consume, with the amount of calories you burn during exercise. So to lose 1 pound a week, each day you need to unbalance the ‘calorie scales’ by 500 calories. This could be done by either reducing your daily calorie intake by 500, or increasing your amount of exercise so you burn 500 more calories, or by reducing your intake by 250 and increasing how much you burn by 250. Here you can see that it is the difference in calories that really matters, and not necessarily the total calories. So a 1200 calorie diabetic diet may not be for everyone – it really depends on how much energy your body needs.

Make sure you consult your health care provider before starting a new diet, as it may require changes to any medication you may be taking. There are many different diabetic diet plans available, but one program in particular that has shown remarkable success for people with type 2 diabetes, is the Medifast diabetic diet plan. Everyone has different needs, so you may find that a diabetic diet plan with a personalised approach produces the best results.

This may sound counter intuitive, but with busy schedules we can tend to eat late or not have much time and therefore end up gobbling up as much food as we can in one sitting. Shortly thereafter we are left having over consumed calories, feeling stuffed and lethargic.

It can take up to 15 minutes for your brain to register with your stomach that food is in your system, a large proponent for overeating. Many times we will keep eating the food that is on our plate waiting for that “feeling of full,” only to have completely surpassed it. Eating a snack or appetizer prior to eating your main meal will help start that communication between your stomach and your brain, so by the time you go to eat your main course you will only need to eat a portion of it to fulfill your bodies’ needs.

While having an appetizer or snack can help with overeating and the communication between the brain and your stomach, it is important to keep the calories and fat in check. Having fried calamari or chicken wings to start will not provide the weight loss and health benefits that having a good healthy start to your meal will offer. I suggest having a light salad or soup to start. One of my personal favorites is a spinach salad with tomatoes, cucumber, cranberries, nuts and a balsamic vinaigrette. A quick toss to kick off your meal. For a soup example I typically like clear broths like miso soup with some tofu and spinach.

Think about options in which you can incorporate a smaller, healthier meal into your dining routine.

At the finish line, rather than bagels and bananas and bottled water, we were greeted with a beer tent and each given three tickets for big plastic cups of Guinness. I’ve heard of carb loading before and after a race, but never thought about beer as being part of that concept. Maybe I should change my mind?

A recently released study proves that moderate female drinkers, those who imbibe more than 45 drinks a month (which seems like a lot of drinking, although it really only averages out to just shy of 1.5 glasses of wine a night) exercised 14 more minutes per week on average than those light drinkers who drank one to 14 drinks in the month. These women also reported exercising on average 20 minutes more than those who abstained from alcohol altogether. Also, drinkers of both sexes were 10 percent more likely than their sober peers to exercise vigorously in any given week.

Even more interesting, those who don’t drink alcohol and don’t exercise have a 30-49% increased risk of heart disease than those who either drink, exercise or both. I wonder what the correlation might be? After all, I’d assume that people with heavy exercise habits would also have a clean record of healthy living. It seems counter intuitive to spend hours at the gym and then kill the effort with alcohol intake. It could be that those who drink feel a need to burn off the extra calories, or maybe a person might chose to exercise just so they can drink a bit more.

It could be that those with an aggressive exercise habit are thrill seekers and the alcohol helps to fill that need. It could be the “runner’s high” that many report feeling with exercise, and the feelings you get when you drink are similar. Or it could just be coincidence – but it surely does make for an interesting topic, doesn’t it?
